The first quarter of 2013 has been a period of growth for the Peninsula Maternity Trust – we appointed a CEO and a new Trustee and raised an additional R15, 000 with a Trustee initiated raffle.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sharna Cornelius as the first CEO for the Peninsula Maternity Trust. Sharna has volunteered to work for the Trust and drive the organisation’s operational growth. She holds a Masters degree in Business Administration and is a business and management professional with experience in the financial services industry in various operational areas, operational management, client services administration and systems.

Newly appointed Trustee Tarryn Mushfieldt is a Business Consultant and holds an Honours degree in Information Systems; she too has brought a wealth of business experience to the Trust.

Earlier this year, Tarryn arranged a raffle with the prize being a night for two at the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa. Dinner, bed and breakfast, spa treatments and a movie (with popcorn!) will be enjoyed by Rick Allen, the winner of this raffle and an honorary “Mowbray Baby”. Contrary to his family’s memories, Rick has always been convinced he was born at Mowbray Maternity Hospital!

The funds raised from this raffle will support our operations. Thanks to The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa (part of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection), as well as all the volunteer fundraisers who sold tickets on our behalf, becoming wonderful ambassadors for Mowbray Maternity Hospital.

This raffle, as with all our fundraising initiatives has introduced the Trust to many “Mowbray Babies” – people who were born at Mowbray Maternity. We are looking forward to joining hands with all “Mowbray Babies” from the past in an effort to support the present babies of Mowbray Maternity, and those we will welcome in the future. On average, 30 babies are delivered a day at Mowbray Maternity.

Watch this space for the “Mowbray Babies” campaign!
