To kick off our first quarter, the Trustees’ fund-raising initiative took the form of a raffle with the prize being a night for two at the Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa. We raised almost R15,000 and these funds will be used to support the operations of the Trust. Thank you very much to The Twelve Apostles for their support, as well as all the volunteer fundraisers who sold tickets on our behalf, becoming wonderful ambassadors for Mowbray Maternity Hospital. The raffle winner was Rick Allen, an honorary “Mowbray Baby”. Contrary to his family’s memories, Rick has always been convinced he was born at Mowbray Maternity Hospital!
Whilst we celebrate Mothers every day at Mowbray Maternity hospital, the 12th of May 2013 affords us an extra-special celebratory day on which to do so. Each year the hospital cares for over 10,500 deliveries which is quite a significant number of Mums the Hospital looks after; the Hospital has been caring for Mothers and their new-borns since 1916!
We salute all Mums and thank them for their special place in our society.
