The Peninsula Maternity Trust has taken significant baby steps forward during the past six months! We have proudly appointed two new Trustees, Dr. Allan Puterman and Adv. Tanya Golden. Our fundraising has been wonderfully successful and we have launched the corporate identity of the Trust. Special thanks to Mr. David Taylor for generously funding our design work.

Mowbray Maternity Hospital hosted a fundraising event during November 2011, which was a great success. We met new friends and donors and achieved our target of raising funds for the Ultrasound Echocardiogram for the Neonatal Unit. This machine has been generously funded by the South African Muslim Charitable Trust. To our delight The Green Hands Trust also funded a phototherapy unit – both these Trusts are managed by the Old Mutual Investment Group SA (OMIGSA). Also from this event we received funds towards other pieces of equipment in the Neonatal Unit, as well as the operational expenses of the Trust.

Thanks to the Investec Trust Group who have funded a new Olympic Brainz AEEG Monitor. Andy and Marita Rutter and Gerard and Bronwyn Schrieff who also contributed towards this monitor.

Advocate Tracey Dicker, Dr’s Francois and Heidre Bonnici, Dr Allan and Mrs. Cheryl Puterman, Mrs. Marche Poole all made significant donations.

Our Trustees are holding a second fundraising event, a benefit evening of “Kat and the Kings” at the Fugard Theatre on Saturday 9th June . We have been overwhelmed with support for this evening and look forward to making more new friends!

Our website will be launched during June – we’ll keep you posted!

Warm regards
Michael Lawrence, Chairman
